Torre del Mar, Spain

Located on the southern coast of the Costa del Sol, in the province of Velez-Malaga, this tourist resort is well worth a visit.

It's a historical town that has adapted for the holiday industry and pretty much has everything.

There's a long, safe beach, lined with hotels, bars and restaurants as well as a thriving town centre.

Not too far from the beach is a great camp site where motorhomes and campers are welcomed.

Space is limited in the summer months so booking is advisable.

There are a few places where you can park up for free in your motorhome. There's quite a lot of waste ground on the outskirts of town.

The picture right shows one such area where you can park up for free. Motorhomes and vans are tolerated more out of season.

With a mountainous backdrop, Torre del Mar has a unique climate and is generally warm all year round.

Summers can be unbearably hot.

FARO DE TORRE DEL MAR

A lighthouse worthy of a visit

THE BEACH

4Km of glorious sand with gentle seas. Blue Flag status

WATERSPORTS

Numerous companies offer every manner of watersports

On the seafront you will find two lighthouses, side by side. The shorter one being the original. The taller one was built when it was realised that the first did not meet the regulations.

On arrival in the motorhome, we parked at the north end of the town as it's a little quieter. All parking is free and you can stay as long as you like. We parked ten feet from the beach and stayed overnight.
