About Us
Welcome to VanLife Travels.
We are Sandra and Steve, British ex-pats that decided to leave the UK and live in our campervan and tour. We are so tired of what the UK has become and feel that there are other countries that have so much more to offer us.
We are both in our 60's and reasonably healthy. We have recently retired and closed down our self-employed small businesses.
We bought a new campervan 'Skippy' in September 2025 and have enjoyed a year of UK touring and two short trips to Spain.
[Van called Skippy as it's usually full of rubbish like a skip].
We lived in Spain many years ago, for a period of around 9 years, although we did buy a house there and not live in a van. During our time in Spain, we developed a love for the country, the culture and the people. We always wondered if we would ever return to retire but never imagined it would be in a van.
We would love you to join us on our adventure and see if this pair of pensioners can actually make this work.
Along our journey we will share tons of information about the countries we visit, vanlife in general and all the ups and downs.

Our van, 'Skippy' is a 2025 Autosleeper, Kingham on a Fiat Ducato chassis. When choosing our van, there were key elements we needed:
-
Two berth
-
Fixed bed at the rear with storage underneath
-
Ample solar power for off grid living
-
Towball
-
Underslung LPG tank
The van we bough ticked all the boxes, however after a few nights out, we discovered that the 100Ah battery was not sufficient for off grid life so we swapped it out for a 300Ah which to date, has served us well. We have doubled this up with a 2kW Jackery power unit which together, should give us weeks of power.
Living in the van will be tough at times but we will have everything we need onboard for a comfortable life.
Our reasons for taking up van life:
-
We are tired of the grindstone of work, simply working to survive and missing out on quality time together
-
We have finally realised that we only get one life and we have to live it to the full
-
We are so disappointed in the UK and what it has become. The future worries us and we're tired of the doom and gloom that the current government are forcing upon us, We feel there is little left that they haven't destroyed
