An essential policy regardless of where you intend to visit.
There are many specialist companies that provide cover for campervans and motorhomes and all will have an option for Europe and beyond. They will have limitations on the number of days spent overseas so check this carefully. Full time van life overseas is quite difficult to insure for.
Our own insurance is more than £1,200 per year. This gives us 364 days in Europe on one trip. If we leave Europe, we will have to take out extra insurance for each country.
Travel insurance
Get the best policy you can afford. Since Brexit, things have changed and your UK health benefits do not always apply when overseas. Private travel insurance is a must but you need to shop around. It's a complicated and competitive industry.
You can purchase annual multi-trip policies for short trips or for full time van life, a long term policy. Make sure you read the small print and ensure that the policy covers the length of your stay outside the UK.
Travel insurance is age and health related to the older you are, the more expensive the insurance will be. Costs will also increase if you undertake dangerous sporting activities such as skiing and snowboarding. Some policies will exclude cover for these so check first.
